No place like home

My home town of McAlester, OK is making the news these days. It is prominently mentioned in this CNN article and spoken of on numerous newscasts. Ole Man Winter has not been kind. My brothers have power back on. My mother does not. My dad has a generator that he purchased after the ice storm of '00. Last time, he was without power for over two weeks. And this time the storm was worse.

Ninsi and her pepper-hating ways is heading out to Paradise, TX for the next couple days for work.

I was unable to make it to work yesterday. I tried. But I reached a hill, and was unable to make it up the hill. Completely lost all traction in the Mustang. I slid around and backed down the hill and tried again for a while. But it just wasn't going to happen. If Id been smart, I would have put a couple bags of the concrete I have at the house into the trunk. Then I might have had enough weight to get the traction I needed. It would have been a really stupid long drive to work then. As it was, Id only made it about 2.5 miles from the house. Of course, it took me almost half an hour to get the car turned around, and then back up the other side, and then about another half hour to get home. Third gear was never an option. As soon as I shifted to third, I lost all traction.

Good times.
